Curious how a Windshield replacement looks like?

Watch this 1 minute time-lapse of how a windshield on a VW Jetta gets changed.

The process is quite simple and starts off with opening the hood and removing the cowl and wipers. Next the rear-view mirror and interior antennas are removed so that they are not damaged. Then it is time to cut out the old glass, which is often done with a special knife from the outside, but in some cases, when the glass is too tight, it needs to be cut out using a fibreglass wire that cuts though the urethane adhesive. After the glass has been removed, all the excess urethane is trimmed off, followed by cleaning off any debris from the vehicle. The new glass is cleaned and  prepped with an activator to make a strong bond with the adhesive. Afterwards we set up the suction cups, then do a dry fit to make sure everything is fitting well, before we go ahead and apply the urethane to the vehicle. Finally we set the glass for the last time, tape it up, and assemble everything!
